About

Who I Am

I’m Visahl Samson — a CTO based in Singapore who still gets a thrill from a well-designed system and a clean pull request. I’ve spent my career at the crossroads of engineering and leadership, building fintech platforms, leading engineering teams, and occasionally breaking into systems legally as a licensed penetration tester.

Right now I serve as CTO for a tech-for-good non-profit, where my team builds civic technology for Singapore’s communities. It’s the kind of work that reminds you why you got into technology in the first place.

What I Actually Do Day-to-Day

No two weeks look the same. One day I’m sketching out an event-driven payment architecture; the next I’m in a sprint review with engineers, or walking a board through a three-year technology roadmap. I like it that way. The variety keeps me sharp — and it means I understand both the code and the context behind every decision.

The domains I work in most:

  • Fintech & Digital Payments — designing end-to-end payment platforms, real-time settlement systems, and resilient financial infrastructure that actually holds up under pressure
  • Enterprise Architecture — TOGAF 10 certified; translating complex business strategy into clear, executable technology blueprints
  • Cybersecurity — Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT) Master and CPENT certified; I’ve broken enough systems to know exactly how to build ones that don’t break
  • Cloud-Native Engineering — microservices, event-driven architecture, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code done properly
  • Technology Leadership — hiring great engineers, building teams that ship, and creating engineering cultures people actually want to work in

Certifications

  • TOGAF 10 Enterprise Architecture — The Open Group
  • Certified Penetration Testing Professional — CPENT (EC-Council)
  • Licensed Penetration Tester Master — LPT Master (EC-Council)

What I Write About

I write for technology leaders and senior engineers who want substance over hype. You’ll find deep dives on:

  • Software architecture & system design — the patterns, trade-offs, and decisions that matter in production environments
  • Fintech engineering — building payment systems, handling compliance, and shipping regulated products without losing your mind
  • Cybersecurity — threat modelling, penetration testing insights, and embedding security-by-design from day one
  • Technology leadership — the CTO role, engineering culture, hiring, and leading teams through complexity

Currently Open To

I’m exploring CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Technology, and IT Advisory opportunities in Singapore and globally — especially in fintech, regtech, and civic technology. If you’re building something meaningful and need a technology leader who can hold their own in both a boardroom and a code review, let’s talk.

Let’s Connect

The best conversations I’ve had started with a simple message. Find me on LinkedIn — I’m always happy to exchange notes on architecture, fintech, cybersecurity, or what it really takes to lead a great engineering team.
